Samsung Recalls Top-Load Washing Machines Due to Injury Hazard (2016)

Recall Overview

Samsung recalled approximately 2.8 million top-load washing machines. The tops could unexpectedly detach during high-speed spin cycles. Samsung received 733 reports of excessive vibration, including nine injuries.

The recalled washers were sold at major retailers from March 2011 through November 2016. Samsung offered either a free in-home repair with warranty extension or a rebate toward a new washer.
